Chassisnumbers

- The first character of the chassisnumber of every Silver Shadow is a S and the second is a R.
- The right-hand drive Silver Shadow has on the third position always a H, the left-hand drive a X, A, B, C, D, or E.
- Examples: SRH6839 and SRX26669.
- The first Silver Shadow is SRH1002, the last one is SRE26700.

- Chrome bumpers; the American Silver Shadows from mid 1973 on have black rubber bumpers

 

Further details and special features

- Flat wheel covers until March 1971, afterwards ventilated wheel covers
- Until late 1967 the front quarter light could be opened
- From late 1968 side-marker lamps
- Between late 1968 and 1972 the reversing lights were mounted on the boot lid; before and afterwards in the main clusters
- Track and tyres were enlarged a few times
- From mid 1973 on fog lights on the chrome front bumpers
- From mid 1973 on no rectangular air inlets any more below the head lights
- The engine is a V8 of 6230 cc, from late 1969 a V8 of 6750 cc
- From mid 1973 on all American cars had black rubber bumpers
- American cars have no picnic tables (except in 1966 and 1967)
- The Silver Shadow could be ordered with Everflex roof covering and with a two-tone paint scheme





In the first years all cars had flat wheel covers. These were replaced by ventilated wheel covers in March 1971. In the USA flat covers could be delivered till 1974. Till late 1967 the front quarter lights could be opened. The car could be delivered in a two-tone paint scheme.

Both cars are from 1969. The ventilated wheel covers are not standard on these early cars. These cars have air inlets below the head lights. The Silver Shadow has chrome bumpers.

In 1969 the reversing lights were located on the boot lid.



The American Silver Shadow has the black rubber bumpers from 1973 onwards. In 1974 the air inlets below the head lights were deleted on all Silver Shadows.

The American Silver Shadow from 1973 has head rests. From 1974 the reversing lights are in the main cluster again.
